About carecells

What are carecells?

Many churches have small groups, or cell groups.  They may be called many different names.  At Lenham URC we call them carecells because they are the place where we care for one another.  If you're new to Lenham URC, joining a carecell  is a great way to meet people and make friends.

A carecell is a spiritual family where we experience God through friendships with one another.  Every week we gather in various homes to receive support and encouragement, learn practical truths to help us overcome challenges in life, and help each other find God's purpose for our lives.  We also pray for each other, and for our families, friends and our community.  The carecells are the basic building blocks of our church.

There will be some people there who are new to it all, and are there to find out about Jesus and ask lots of questions.  There will also be others who have been Christians for a while, and you can observe how their faith makes a difference to their lives!  In a carecell meeting there will usually be several sub-groups doing different things depending on the people who are there.  In a family carecell the children may also be in sub-group for some of the time, called a kids slot.

What happens at a carecell meeting?

The meeting itself is relaxed and informal.  Different people lead different parts of the meeting.  The format generally follows this sort of pattern;

Gel - Getting to know each other better.

Glorify - Focusing on God and putting Jesus at the centre of our meeting.

Grow - Learning biblical principles and truths that we can apply in our lives.

Go - Focusing on how we can bring God's love to our families, friends and community.

Gear Up - Keeping focused on our purpose, which is for the group to multiply.

Much more than a meeting

The carecell is so much more than just a meeting though.  It is a network of friendships that aims to help each other to;

  • Love God,
  • Care for each other
  • Transform our community in Jesus' name.

This happens all through the week!

We also have lots of social events (such as barbecues, eating out, film nights, music evenings, family days out, or just getting together for tea and coffee) which are great fun.  Why not try one of our social events - it's a great way to get to know a few people in the carecell!

How can I get involved?

Our carecells cater for different people.  The groups meet on different days and times.  The venues vary each week, so contact the relevant carecell leader to find out what's happening in your group. If there is not a carecell meeting on a day and time that suits you, do let us know, and we can take that into consideration when the groups multiply.

See the Current groups page for details of all our groups
